The secret of the ROM Machine.
The central component of the ROM Machine's resistance mechanics—along with its unique ability to adapt to the fitness level of the user —is its centrifugal brake, which located on the machine´s 85-pound flywheel inside the stainless steel hoop. Elegant in its simplicity, the centrifugal brake allows your body to find precisely the right level of resistance—without electricity or magnetic fields—to create rapid muscle development. The result is a luxurious, smooth, and consistent movement that virtually eliminates the dangers of exercise injury.
On both the upper and lower body workout, the machine automatically adjusts the resistance—second by second—while you´re using it, to match the effort you´re putting into it. The ROM is safe for virtually all ages—from young adult to seniors—because it will adjust to your current fitness condition and level of strength. The workouts can be varied, depending on desired condition, weight, and goals. You can vary the resistance to achieve a more muscular or more aerobic workout.
By exercising just four minutes a day on the ROM Machine, you will increase flexibility by guiding your body through the ideal range of stretching motions. The ROM is designed to keep your body within safe limits as it stretches. There are no dangerous weights or levers to over-stress muscles or tendons. The workout is safe and low impact, guided by an on-board computer readout. And because ROM exercises so many muscle groups, through a greater range of motion, it encourages the growth of new blood vessels and extends the capillary system. It's a real heart-saver.
The ROM Machine lets people rebuild in record time the muscle they have lost during years of inactivity. Everyone from highly trained athletes to senior citizens will attain better muscle tone, balanced blood sugar, lowered cholesterol and blood pressure, more flexibility, stamina and strength from using the ROM Machine.
When it comes to exercise, there are two types of people:
1. 8% of people who exercise a few hours per week.
2. 92% of people who do not exercise on a regular basis.
The 8% of people who are healthy and fit are often the most vocal and stubborn disbelievers of a complete exercise in only 4 minutes.
Most experts still insist that adequate daily cardio exercise can only be done in a minimum of 30 to 45 minutes per day. Many of them consider it a waste of time to even give the ROM Machine any consideration at all. They express this skepticism without a full investigation or inquiry, or haven't even tried the ROM Machine.
The ROM Machine's design and effectiveness are based on science and results. But the fitness industry isn´t about changing the status quo. They want to sell you equipment and gym memberships that they hope you´ll never use.
Dr. Lawrence Morehouse founded UCLA´s performance laboratory and wrote sections on exercise and physical conditioning for the Encyclopedia Britannica. He designed NASA's fitness program for the astronauts. Most notably, he discovered that a combination of exercises—one for short periods of time daily—can provide all the muscle developing, stretching, aerobic stimulation and cardiovascular conditioning most people need.
Dr. Morehouse's findings revealed that we need very little exercise each day—if it´s the right kind of exercise. The key is quality (full-body H.I.T., or High-Intensity Training), not quantity (time). In short, we can have a short workout if it's truly a peak workout.
The ROM Machine puts you through cardio performed at such an intense level that your body will spend the rest of the day expending energy to recover from the workout. This is commonly referred to as EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption), where the body consumes a great deal more oxygen recovering from the exercise than it would if you'd just done a steady-state workout like jogging or walking. After a workout on the ROM Machine, you'll be burning up to nine times more fat while sitting on the couch later that night than you would have if you'd spent an hour on the treadmill at a moderate pace.
Since the ROM Machine was first introduced to the market 20 years ago, the scientific community has caught up with the science behind high-intensity exercise.
Some of the studies on this page are specific to the ROM Machine, while others focus on the benefits of high intensity exercise. We encourage you to read the findings and draw your own conclusions.
